Bakelite Telephones UK
In the 1930’s the first Bakelite telephones were introduced into the UK, and remained the standard iconic telephone for almost 30 years. In the 1960’s these were relaced by what are now regarded as retro telephones, the 706 and 746 telephones. These Retro telephones also became the iconic telephone of the 1960,s 1970’s and 1980’s.

Although you can’t beat the original classic retro telephones produced in the 1960’s and 70’s for quality, a number of modern replica telephones have started to appear that combine the classic styling of the original old fashioned British telephones with the facilities of a modern telephone.
